What are my options for paint scratches?
Hi Guys,
Just to start off with a little story, this weekend, my car was parked in my girlfriends garage. As we were leaving to go to a 4th of July party, she went walking by my car and i guess she didn't see her zipper sticking out. So anyway, needless to say, she left a scratch about a foot and a half across my drivers side front fender. It looks like someone keyed my car. I tried to remain calm. In her garage, it didn't seem that bad, but after pulling it out into the sun, it looked a lot worse. I tried buffing it out, but the scratch is still there. It looks pretty deep. Does anyone here know what my options are as far as trying to get it out? I've tried searching through the forums, but I can't seem to find anything. I'm hoping I don't have to get the whole fender repainted. Are there any car products that I can use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Some detailers have services to fill in, wet sand and buff out scratches. Good shops can do wonders.
We have a recommended detailer in NorCal, but you are in SoCal. Check for detailers or dent scratch repair in your local area through the Yellow pages or Google I suppose.

No problem, was just also using the search feature to hunt down a few threads where your question has already been asked. You might also want to post a little more detail on how deep the scratch is (can you feel it with your nail, color you see at the bottom) and what color your GS is.
I searched for 'scratch removal' and 'paint scratch' in this forum, these are only a couple of many threads I found.

This one is about swirls, but has some good info too

Just to elaborate on the situation, I have a black gs300. You can feel the scratch with your nail. When I look at it, I can see what seems to be a white to silverish color in the bottom. Does anyone know the best place to get some of these car detailing products?

Pep Boys sells a vast array of them. You can also find 3M and Meguiar's professional line products at most automotive paint /body shop supply stores. Let your fingers do the walking through the Yellow Pages to find those.
Online, there are too many to mention, but here's one; http://www.properautocare.com/
Cheers.
