Here's an excellent thread to read up on the claying process (from CL's eyes)

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hreadid=116809

You can find a lot more on anything else by utilizing the CL built-in search engine, located at the top left of the page.

My sports car buddies use it on their high-end cars before applying wax...they forced me to claybar my 97 SC400 this weekend....after i got started...i noticed tons of dirt were removed. When i finally got to the back of the car..i would run the bar back and forth gently..the lubrication(quick detailer) was turning extremely dark/dirty..it looked like a white sink after washing extremely dirty hands...i couldn't believe how much dirt and carbon and the rear was embedded in the paint! I continued to repeat the process until the lubricate wasn't turning dark/dirty...After you throw on some Wax...it makes your car really stand out.

Bottom line: I highly recommend trying it out....Go to Advanced Auto, you can pick up Mother's Clay bar kit for $15bucks and get started. Just keep a lot of lubrication(quick polish/detailer) to keep the clay from stopping on the clear coat..it's not a big deal if that happens..you just have to rub it out with a cloth!

You won't believe the difference in the before and after feel. Lube is key. Go for it.

no need to use the quick detail for lube either, a simple car wash / water solution will do the trick and it's less expensive.

I used the claybar from www.griots.com

That along with their speed shine works wonders. You use the speed shine as the lubricant and work in small areas, cleaning it off as you go.

No need to bare down with the clay, just keep it moving lightly across the surface of the paint.

You will know when you need more lube/speed shine as the clay will start to stick.

Here are the steps I use.

1. Wash and dry car.

2. Claybar and speed shine, wiping off as you go.

3. Wash and dry car.

4. Wax

5. Stand back and admire the new shine!
