Default 01 GS Cupholder Cover ?

Got my 01 GS 300 CPO yesterday and I can`t wipe this grin off my face. This is our second GS having owned a 95.

The car is immaculate, 32 K white, just beautiful..... The only "flaw" that I can find is the cupholder cover is a little faded.

Any ideas on a product that might restore it? Wonder if one could buy just the cover or is it part of an assembly?

First post....... Been reading and reading and reading for about a week.......Great forum!

Also, did not want to double post, not sure if this was the best place to start this thread.

Much Thanks..........

Davo, you can try and get some shine out of it with Meguiar's Plastic Polish, Plexus etc. or any name brand plastic polish for that matter.

I do not know if that cover is available as a single part, someone else hopefully will.

If the plastic polishes don't work, you can try a slightly grittier polish like KIT Scratch-Out, even a rubbing compound followed by a finer polish like the KIT or a swirl remover. Those are made for car paint yes, but car paint is urethane, which is simply just another form of plastic. I've used them on non-textured hard plastic with good results, many times. You just have to proceed the same way as with car paint; i.e. start with fine polishes, and only go coarser if necessary to remove scratches or dullness. If you do go to coarser grit, always follow it with finer grits to bring up the shine and remove the compounding dullness. Best of luck.

Dan,

Thanks for your help........

I went to an auto parts place and could find neither of the products you mentioned. Any ideas?

Thanks, David

David, KIT Scratch Out is pretty ubiquitous around my area, I think Pep Boys sells it, and I know Advance Auto parts and AutoZone definitely do. If you still come up bank ...

Locate your local automotive paint and body shop supplier, any decent size town / city has one. They will carry either Novus or Plexus, or the Meguiar's plastic polishes.

Let me know if you strike out on all fronts and we'll go to plan B.
