If the pads are used and dry, then simply tap the pad and shake it to remove the excess residue. You should never use more than one product for each pad, and don't wash them in water.
If the pad is still damp with product (ie, you have just finished using them) then you can wipe them off with a towel.

I wash my pads every few uses, just use a little liquid laundry detergent and warm water, let them sit for 30 minute or so and rinse out in cold water, sqeeze as much water out as possible and let them air dry.
I've done the same set of pads now 5 or 6 times and they look great.

I've been using my PC since March, 1995. I do 2-3 cars a week and never clean the pads. I roll them in a towel and squeeze out the excess product immediately after use and put them in open ZipLoc bags to dry. Once dry, and prior to reuse I tap them on the edge of a workbench to dislodge any power and I'm ready to go. I've got pads from 95 that are still in service.
