Safest thing (to prevent the cloth material from coming unglued) would be to use a foaming cleaner like Blue Coral's Dri-Clean, as seen here ;

Or ...Resolve's foaming carpet cleaner has always worked for me also. The main thing is to try not to saturate the material too much. A soft brush would be best to agitate the foam on that type of surface, so avoid brushes that are stiff. You can give it a gentle pat-down with a white terry towel afterwards, to remove any remaining moisture from the process. Cheers.
