I just want to add to this thread for anyone who might be interested that I was able to remove the hologram effect caused by a detailer with this 3M product:

It works VERY well, and I applied it by hand! (quite a workout though). I need to buy a porter cable someday.

I followed it up with a coat of wax and it looks amazing...I wish I took a picture right after to show it.

Here's what it looked like on the hood before (the pic doesn't really capture the effect well):

It was also on a few other panels. The car looked great when I picked it up, but there must've been some type of 'glop' that covered up the burn marks and holograms b/c I didn't see them until it rained about a week later and I had to wash the car myself. So relieved I was able to remove them.

Great photo Inkblot, that really shows the hologram effect.

The detailer likely covered that up with a glaze. They're full of oils & fillers and hide a lot of problems...until it rains or the car gets washed. Then they come back to haunt you. Makeup is all they are, and holograms really need to be fixed and not covered up. You fixed them with the fine polishing work and the 3M.

Nice work with the swirl remover!
