Default the proverbial stupid question

I notice repeated references to dawn dishwashing liquid to strip previous wax from your car prior to washing and rewaxing. is this the recommended stripping agent or does any dishwashing liquid work effectively the same way?

Any dishwashing liquid would be fine. I think people just reference "Dawn" because its probably the most universal and easiest to type.

Make sure its a dishwashing liquid though. Dishwashing powder and/or powdered clothes detergent can really scratch up a car.
