Default Gas damage to finish?

I was filling up my 06 gs 300 when I noticed a very slight "streak" running from the gas tank opening down to the wheel well. It looks as if some gas might have spilled down. It has caused the paint/clearcoat to raise slightly, it feels like there's some sort of crust there when you run your fingernail over it, but it will not come off. Well, I haven't really tried to hard, only scratching hard with my fingernail.

Is there a way to remove or repair this?

Can you post a pic of the area? Sounds like it may need to be repainted if the paint is raised

How long did it sit on there before you noticed? My Talon had some gas that actually froze on the finish, but it didn't cause any damage and came off with some bug n tar remover.

I don't know how long it was on there, I just noticed this a few days ago. The pictures didn't come out too well, you can barely see the streaks. They are really obvious when you run your hand over the area though.

I wonder how long the gas took to do that? Because you can feel it when you rub your hands over it you will most likely need to have it repainted. I would take it to a body shop that you can trust and see what they say?

I'd try claying the area first and follow up with a polish like ScratchX if you are doing this by hand. I'd use Meguiar's #83 if you have a pc. Follow this with a glaxe like Mag's #81 and then a couple coats of NXT.

I suspect this is something on the paint and not under it.

Gasoline contains xlyene, which is a chemical that *can* potentially cause resin damage in clearcoats. But if you only spilled it 1x or so, I would highly doubt you have damaged it to that extent, so try some of the suggestions mentioned and don't panic. Good luck!
