Default Glass polish?

Is there such a thing? I've got some stubborn tree sap on my windshield that won't budge with traditional glass cleaners and I was thinking I needed something stronger. I have some medium strength rubbing compound. Could I use that?

Tree sap can be removed with clay, body solvents like Dupont's Prepsol or isopropyl alcohol.

I'd be very careful about using an abrasive polish on a windshield as some are coated.

You may be impressed by the "Stoner Invisible Glass", available in spray can or pump bottle at Pep Boys or Checker Auto (CSK) stores. Best I've found for auto..

Thanks, Tammy. After starting the thread, I did some searching (I know, I should have done this first). Many people recommend Stoners. I'm going to pick some up at Pep Boys today at lunch.

Also use microfiber towels. They have seem to pick up more than your average paper towel.

So the reason to use microfiber towels is to make sure that any loose particles (like lint, for example) are cleaned off? Would microfiber towels help remove contaminants that seem to be baked into the glass?

I've used Bon-Ami and softscrub with good results. Just make sure you use plenty of water for lubrication and don't go crazy and use a lot of pressure. Works like a charm.
