Default Tire Dressing... which one again?

Well, bluelex came over a few weeks ago to adjust my coilovers.... We deceided to put some tire dressing on the tires to shine them up... I have 2 different kinds the Dupont none grease and "WET" tire shine. I used the WET version since i didn't have good experience with the DUpont... Low and behold that same day i had streaks on the paint and i was pissed.. I knew this would happen.... So today i washed the car and detailed mist waxed the car... The mist wax took the streaks right off so i was happy.... I'm going to give the Dupont another try I don;t know what else to use Any suggestions

Personally I like Black magic poured in a cup(not sprayed)and applied with a paint brush.Doesnt fly off but looks netter if you can let the car sit a few hours after.

I was just walking through a Pep-boys today to kill time and noticed they had a Tire shine applicator pad on the rack. I think it was an Eagle One product not sure, but it was contoured to the shape of a normal tire and was a sponge like material. Might want to give that a shot should be able to control the amount better than with a paint brush. Just happen to see the post and figured I'd drop my 2 pennies.

Ive seen that thing and kinda laughed at it.I figure that sponge would get pretty messy after a couple of applications, not to mention how much product would get absorbed and wasted in the sponge.Been doing the paintbrush for about 15 years so I guees Im more comfortable with it.You know the saying..Diferent strokes(no pun intended for different folks!!

That is why it is still on the shelf was thinking the same thing but it looked like a halfway decent idea not sure just how absorbent the material is but its prob a one-shot deal...do your 4 wheels and the inside of the trash can.

I've tried that sponge thing and it works okay, but the paint brush works so much better especially at car shows when you want pefect coverage and don't want any crap on your rims. The paint brush wastes less products as well.

I like the Michelin 3 in 1 Tire Shine. It gives a dark, natural-looking finish (not oily looking) and won't damage tires, wheels, or vehicle paint.

I use Meguiar's HOT SHINE. A lot of people have runoff/spinoff problems with this one, but as long as you can let the car sit for an hour or two after applying, you won't get spinoff. I've never gotten it, and I always let the car sit for at least an hour after applying. By the way, I spray it onto a soft sponge (like a kitchen sponge) to apply, just keep squeezing the sponge to release more product as opposed to squirting the sponge full of product for each tire.

Meguiairs High Engurance (its purple liquid in a clear bottle). Go easy on the coverage, and you still get a great shine and not much spinoff at all. I have have light colored car too so I know what you mean!

This is the key. DO NOT shine tires and immediatley jump on the h-way and do 80. Yeah you'll get spinoof. And hey I use that goofy little sponge and it works good for me It does get pretty nasty after about 5-6 applications though, but they're cheap.
