I intend to use Meguiars "Multi Piece Wheel Wash" on my Volks as I'm confident they won't do any harm to my wheels. The description sounds exactly like what I'm looking for as I do not want to mess up the clear coat on my chrome lip: "New Hot Rims Multi Piece Wheel Wash is a non-alkaline, non-acid formula designed to safely remove grime, grit and brake dust from all polished/unpolished aluminum,powder-coated, multi-surface or anodized wheels..."

I think people use wheel cleaner too regularly because they think a wheel cleaner is necessary to clean wheels.

Not so. I believe your Volks are brand new, correct? Just use the same carwash soap you would use to wash your paint and buy another sheepskin mit just for the wheels. Be sure to reseal or rewax the wheels regularly. Wheel cleaner isn't even necessary unless you seriously neglect to clean your wheels, or if the inner barrel isn't accessible from the outside and you need to clean them. Using wheel cleaner regularly will just strip the sealant/wax you put on.

For the past couple of years I've been using 303 aerospace cleaner on my wheels.Very safe stuff and does an excellent job of cleaning.
I dilute it 1:10 ratio in a spray bottle and use it on the wheels, tires, wheel wells ,engine bay and interior.
The wife also uses it in the kitchen, bathroom and to remove grease stains from clothes.

Bought a gallon two years ago and I still have more than half left. Haven't bought another wheel cleaner since.

was with regular car wash soap and use a good polymer wax on the wheels then just use a good quick detailer spray to keep them clean smude free between washes

Nice wheels!

I use my regular wash soap which is Meguiars NXT. I'm not a fan of some of the harsher chemicals as they may leave marks behind. Remember that thread a bit back about GSXOTIC's wheels? That put the scare in me and I use the most mild, well dilluted deterget I can get away with.

ENough of the paper towels are contain a fair amount of composition from recycled products. I've come across some that have scratched finishes so be careful. I suggest wiping them with a soft cotton cloth or microfiber towel.

I recommend the Guru Reports winner: A2Z Wheel and Tire Cleaner.

I also recommend finishing with Poorboys Wheel Sealant or Zaino Z-2 Pro or Klasse AiO to keep the brake dust down subsequently (don't use A2Z after the sealant application until it wears off).

If there is a lot of dirt try using a ClayMagic bar to clean the wheel after washing.

P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner is also terrific. Never use a chamois or non-mf towel to clean wheels. Only use mf or a sheepskin mitt to touch fine wheels.
