Not in my opinion. They are ok but waffle weave microfiber towels like Meguiar's Water Magnet are much better. Microfiber towels dry better with less chance of marring the finish than a piece of oiled animal skin.

 

It leaves an oily residue for me. Yuck.

 

I've used one for years. I clean and condiction it using "Leather Therapy" leather laundry detergent and laundry rinse, along with my full seat deer hide riding breeches. Dry it flat on a cotton towel. No oils or streaks.

 

If you must use chamois try synthetic chamois, they work much better. Try looking for one called "Absorber".

 

Not to 'jack' this thread, but: full-seat breeches, sounds like you ride dressage? H/J usually just wear knee patches.
