DING WIZARDS, DAMAGE CONTROL!!! Mammoth Sized Ding takes over my door!
I just noticed this today while washing the car, which was CAKED in salt and explains how I missed it, unless it actually happened today (quite possible). Anyways, I don't know what to do. This thing is gigantic. I know I have to get it pulled out, and it will probably cost me an arm and a leg to get this fixed. My real problem lies with the scratch you see there. it is VERY deep, all the way down to the sheet metal. I don't understand why this happens, it MUST have been an SUV because any car would have hit my ding guard first. This door obviously was high enough to completely clear my ding guard and nail my dair flat on. How can people be so inconsiderate and non-observant? I'm so FURIOUS.
What should I do for that scratch?
Here's what it looks like EVERYTIME I get in my car

Sorry to hear about the mishap...Ding king can definitely get that out for you with no issues...As far as the paint goes, you can try this...www.langka.com..This method works great on essentially black, red, and white colors (non-metallic colors)...If your paint is not chipped then you can probably buff the scruff marks right off....

This is going to sound a little flippant - but that should be an easy fix. Take it to a PDR place locally (ask around, you'll find a reputable one, there are plenty of good chain ones). I go to a chain one in Canada - $60 for up to a medium ding and they do an incredible job. That looks like it'll just be a simple hole drilled into the sill of the door, then work it right out. It isn't too sharp a dent so it shouldn't be a problem.
After that if you want to give it a shot it should be an easy touchup/wetsand/polish - or you can go the langka route. If that's not for you just about any detailer that offers chip repair services will be able to get that out for you in a day. Dings down to the metal like that are actually *easier* to repair than once that just make it through the clear. It's just primer, touchup paint, clear, wetsand and polish.
No matter what you do make sure to get that chip primered asap. A $2 primer pet at auto zone will do. If you leave it exposed it'll rust pretty quickly.

The problem with that dent is that it is right on the character line. It's going to take a lot of time to massage that out and since you have a dark color, you'll probably notice it still. Sorry to hear that. I've gotten my own share of severe door dings in Manhattan. If you decide to get your door fixed later via body work and painting, I would just try and protect the area with some touchup paint. Figuring there will likely be more snow and salt, you want to protect the panel from corrosion.

thanks for the quick replies. I'm taking the car down tomorrow morning to my autobody specialist (this is the same guy that fixed up my car after my accident, replaced and repainted my driver's side foor when it got smashed, and has done a number of other things, he does EXCELLENT work so I trust him). I will ask him for an estimate to remove the ding and fix the two paint chips.

hahaha Tony, we'll see. If Todd's ding guy is going to be there and can pop this bad boy for cheaper than my estimate tomorrow, I'll swing by. I won't have much time though, so it would have to be an in and out kinda thing.

I'm very sorry about that. I think PDR will remove the dings and a good touchup artist might be able to hide the scratch. You can do a repaint but that would get expensive for quality work.

LOL this door shell has already been replaced and repainted once, that bill ran up to almost $1800. Insurance covered all but $500 of it though.

Nobody will pop the ding, its unpoppable since its right on the character line. It NEEDS body work to fix. I went to 8 different places, local ding guys, dent wizards/ding kings/body shops to get different opinions and views, everyone says that it needs body work and a repaint on the door from the molding up. Best cost of Labor: $500 to fix the dent, and repaint the ENTIRE door, including below the molding. This is good because I have another nasty blemish under the molding that nobody else was willing to repaint, also this $500 comes from my most trusted body shop thats done a lot of painting on our cars, with no orange peel I think I am going to pony up the $500 to get this done properly.

Yup, most dings can be removed from our cars since the panels are pretty smooth, anywhere except that character line and anything right around the wheel wells. Due to the crease in the metal and double layer of metal on the wheel wells. Dings in those areas will require bodywork. Actually $500 is not a bad price for all the work. I have a small ding in my character line and Todd's guy tried to work on it. He made it much smaller, but couldn't go any further. GL.
