Need leather help...
I'm looking on this site for some answers....please ....anyone!! I moved some pillows around today and found a blood spot on my leather sofa and chair (from the dog). It has dried, and I cannot get it to budge. It is a light caramel color. I have tried regular soap and water....Macguires leather gold... and even toothpaste! But I cannot get it to budge.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

Located this;
http://iilg.org/lkb/articles/faq136.html But it sounds pretty dicey that you'll be successful.
My advice; if you must try one of those suggestions that could cause damage itself ( and doesn't happen to work), be ready to hire a dye specialist (every dealership knows one) to come in, match your leather color and respray the area.
It should cost you under $100, but it'll also make the leather look new again. If they do it, ask them to spray a clear poly sealer (just like oem does) on it as well, as a topcoat. Spraying the color over the repair area is not enough for it to last as expected. Good luck, that's a REALLY tough one.
P/S. I won't ask what caused the blood, but hopefully you've paid up on your gambling bets. (J/K)

thanks for the info..embarrassingly enough...the dog went into heat and we didnt notice that she had been lying on the couch for a day or two. When I first found it...it just looked like it was wet...accused the kids of having drinks in the LR. figured it would dry and left it alone. when it wasnt "drying" figured out what it actually was
now I cant get it to come out...if i use anything too harsh, it takes the color out of the leather...so i am stuck wondering which is worse. for now, the blood stain still just looks like a water spot...so do i go with a "water" spot or a white (no color in the leather) spot?????

Yes, I feel your dilemma, unfortunately it's one only you can decide on.
If it were me, being the perfectionist I try to be, I'd talke a shot at cleaning it with whatever might work, and resign myself to have it re-dyed if I made it worse. But then, I do my own redying work, so that's not a fair choice since you'd have to pay someone. Best of luck to you.
Dogs are worth it though (most of the time!)

MeanLex...those things (mr. clean magic erasers) are wicked....I am afraid I wont have any leather left!! I will try it in an inconspicuous spot and let you know. My guess is it is going to take the color right out of the leather...the leather is a caramel brown color...or as indicated on the tag..."pumpkin pie"....there is some varigation in shade here and there...as it is sort of quilted on the tops of the cushions....so I may be able to get away with some fading...but total white (which is what I am anticipating to happen with the magic eraser) will stick out like a sore thumb.
PS..Toy4two....I SO dont get your post???
Am I missing somthing?
