Child seat (car seat) and leather?
Hi folks
I just got a 'new' 1994 ES300.
Seats are pretty good, except driver's which ( heavy wear at the front right thigh). I want to keep the other seats in good shape. I'm going to detail them soon.
But I occasionally need a booster seat and child seat in the rear.
They both have bits on the bottom and back that will leave indentations or even poke through the leather eventually.
Any recommendations for protecting my leather?
(BTW, got a killer deal on the car: $3,000 -- 170k, but all records since 40k, all major services on sked at dealer or local shop specializing in Lexus, and bought it from a *very* trusted friend who's had it since 40k. It was a company car before that. My new baby runs, sounds and feels great. Impresses the co-workers and neighbors, too.)

I used those Rubbermaid mats that go underneath a dish rack! They're thick, durable and really protect the seats and the back portion of the seat. Trust me, all the vehicle my wife and I own have leather and there is not a trace of any creases in sight. HOpe this helps.

This works pretty well for me: Two-Stage SeatSaver
My 02 ES300 had indents from the base of the big Britax seat we had. The infant seats with the separate quick-release base aren't so bad, but once you graduate up to the bigger units it definitely is a problem. So far, these protectors are working well in my new GS.

I have found success placing a bath towel under the seat. It covers all areas where the leather would be touched. Of course kids themselves will do some damage to the leather, but this doesn't bother me.
