Default BLACK ONYX + Zaino ???

I'm aware that the Black Onyx IS300 has clear coat added to the black pigment in the paint rather than a layer on top of the paint. Does this classify as a clearcoat paint or a one step???

Reason asking, if I were to use Zaino on one, would I want to use Z2 or Z3 ? Anyone know?

I think you should be safe using Z2. You can also try Z5 as well, hiding swirls too.

Yeah well when I detail cars I use Z2, Z5, Z2 (3 coats total). My friend has a Black Onyx and he wants me to do it, so I dont know whether to use Z2 or Z3. No one seems to know the answer for sure.

I did Z-2....Z-5....Z-2 on my Black Onyx GS......turned out AWESOME. Also....just an FYI on the whole "clearcoat" or "no clearcoat" for the Lexus Onyx color.....My car just got painted after the accident and these guys only work on BMW, POrsche and Lexus (high line shop) and they did say if has clearcoat....so thats what they did and it looks spectacular!!!!!!

I to, couldn't get a straight answer about if it was clear coated before the accident

Thank you two very much. No one has been able to give me a "for sure" answer either. I guess if you both got great results it must work fine. Thanks so much
