Best wax that gives protection from the rain
Just wondering what is the best wax for protecting my car from the lots and lots of rain here in Vancouver, Canada
im currently using mothers carnauba cleaner wax
its good when the water beads off the car but the protection doesnt last very long
does NXT offer better protection?
or Klasse?

For me NXT worked good, the water did bead for a while, but when it is the rainy season here I wax the car about twice a month. I use Poorboys wax now, it works great but the wax is hard to use, it clumps togethor and gets everywhere. I am trying to decide what to use now. Maybe I will try Klasse or Menzerna

I also get excellent protection using NXT Tech Wax and it is very easy to apply and remove. You do need to have a very clean and properly prepped finish to get good longevity with any wax and NXT is no different. It is not a one step product (i.e. a cleaner /wax).
I detail (wash, clay, polish and wax) my cars twice a year and maintain the shine using NXT Tech Spray booster wax after every other wash. This maintenance process takes about 20-30 minutes, makes the finish shine like is has been freshly detailed and because it leaves the paint so slippery it resists dirt so the cars are much easier to keep clean.
The NXT spray booster wax should be sprayed on a foam pad and applied to the car in a super thin film. If applied too thick it is hard to remove.

Here is what I'm planning on doing if my car ever gets here. Poorboys World.
Hi Jim,
Congrats on the new Lexus. I would use these products and steps when you get the new car.
1) wash Super Slick & Suds
2) clay the car to remove any contaminates
3) Polish w/ Carnauba Blue
4) EX x 2 (two coats to ensure total coverage) leave each coat on an hour before removing ...wait 24-36 hours
5)Natty's Blue
6)maintain with Spray and Wipe and/or Spray & Gloss
QW+ would be more like a booster wax that would only be needed if you were not planning on waxing more than 2-3 per year and would help prolong the current wax.
Spray and Wipe would be used to remove light dirt and dust between washings.
Spray & Gloss would be used while drying after a wash (directly into the remaining water) and after a wash to enhance the "pop" of the wax.
let me know if you have any other questions
thanks
steve

THe only problem I have with Poorboys is that it is very clumpy and when I put it on by hand it is very messy. I am always digging chunks of wax out of little crevices and such. But the shine is just amazing

Zaino is pretty good....
I apply Zaino, after I wash my car...
I usually park my car in my garage at night, so not exposed to very much rain, unless I'm going out..

i park my GS in the garage at night too
but when i drive a lot on the hwy and when it rains, the rain stays on the car and dries very ugly overnight in the garage
then the beading action goes away pretty quickly after that
im really not feeling like washing the car after every drive...
i really want some wax protection that last much longer

You want a carnuaba that will last longer than 6 weeks? Collinite 845 or 476. The only waxes I know of that will outlast a sealant. I use them all the time on customer cars who don't come to see me more than once a year. The look is that of a really warm carnauba, not super wet but nice and deep - and it lasts 5-6 months easy.

I've been using Meg's NXT and really like it. Bought an 05 RX330 TC in late July of 2005. Wanted to get a good coat of wax on it right away and came across the NXT. Applied 1 coat, then a second coat about a week later. Put another coat on in early Oct. while the weather was still good in ND. After going thru a ND winter and early spring with slushy and dirty roads (sand and salt deicers) the shine is still there and still beading up. Wash it at least once a week in an automatic car wash thru out the Winter and have done it a few times by hand this Spring. Want to give a good going over as soon as the weather co-operates and schedule allows. Hopefully this weekend.

hey picus, what do you think of the 3M Perfect-It Show Car Paste Wax
i heard its shine is amazing and lasts pretty long
i can find it at my local napa but collinite is probably going to be hard to find
or would u recommend layering klasse SG on top of Klasse AIO and then carnauba?

Collinite is available online only afaik. I ordered mine from the states but I think there is a Canadian distrubutor, I'll look around.
I've not used the 3M paste wax. Seems like on autopia it gets pretty average reviews for durabilty and look. I think one idea might be AIO/SG/NXT, then just keep applying NXT every couple weeks.

Found it!
http://www.toughwax.com/
$24.99 for the 476s. It does sacrifice a bit of visual bling for the durabilty, but it'll last 6 months easy. I put it on my dads car in November '05 and it was still beading in April '06.
