You can DIY, but you need to be thorough in your prep work, which does involve degreasing and lightly sanding the surface. If you aren't, the dye will lift.

I've done entire interiors with SEM and DuPont vinyl/leather dyes (not really a "dye" but an elastomeric paint made for leather & vinyl) It can look like new, but you should take it to a pro, and get a guarantee on longevity if the idea of doing it yourself scares you.

That price is reasonable, I've seen higher. Replacing your leather will cost 3x to 4x that ( for ALL the interior panels that is). If it's just 1 seat then you should be able to recover it for $400 in leather.

The materials in redyeing aren't exactly cheap, so price them first, including the prep solvent, and then decide if you want to tackle it. You'll need to spray them on somehow as well, so unless you have a spray gun or airbrush, and a small compressor (at least) then you're probably better off having someone else do it.

If he just sprays over the cracks, then no, they will reappear in short order. If he has a crack filler and does it right, it'll hide them, but nothing outside of replacing the leather will be 100% in terms of longevity. Wish I could tell you what to do, good luck.

Default The leather

I would recommend taking a look at leatherseats.com first of all they advertise on clublexus and they have pretty competitive deals on new skins for your seat. They offer a deal on the SC400 for around $700.00 for front and rear skins which I believe to be competitive especially if you consider the custom options they have available. We all want to pay as little as possible but for a bit more than $400.00 you get brand new. Take a look and see.
Best of luck
