Default For those of you who park in the sun

How do you keep your paint looking new and glossy? I no longer have my garage spot so the car needs to be parked on the street or driveway and I am aftraid of the sun ruining the paint and dash area.

And, you could invest in one of those silver dash shades too. Keep her waxed and you should be fine.

oh and remember to look for car covers that have locks since it will be on the street

could always 3-layers from lexus dealership or 4-layers technalon on the internet

lexus OEM one has a pouch attached to it that u just throw into the trunk and the cover wont get taken off because the pouch in the trunk is tethered to the cover

good thing ive still got my garage spot
hehe

The sun would usually melt most paste wax, such as P21S. I'd say the best wax to use that'll last is synthetic wax, such as Meguiar's NXT. Maybe put Klasse All-In-One and Klasse Sealant Glaze, then top it off with Meguiar's NXT.

Most people here would not even let the dealer give them the free automated car wash, which scratches up paint and gives swirl marks.

I have to admit I have never personally detailed my car before. I am very afraid of claying/polishing/waxing. Mostly i am afraid of ruining the paint or of spending 8 hours working on it and not having it come out right. I understand that black cars especially are a little tricky.

I park my GS in my garage when I'm in town but often when I'm out of town I park the car at the airport. She sometimes sits there for 1-2 weeks lucky me the previous owner bought a Lexus OEM car cover. I must say it works awesome, keeps the car very very clean and offers great protection to the paint AND the car

It's quite hard to ruin your paint, you ruin it more by using automated car washes for $8. Just get microfiber towels and a nice washmitt, do everything in one motion, left to right or up and down, and keep it consistent for best results. Just don't use anything you drop, especially clay bars.

It doesn't quite take 8 hours to do it all at once. Claying is only done 2-3 times a year, and probably an hour at most for the whole process. Polishing is done 4-5 times a year, depending on car's condition, and that takes about an hour as well. Washing can be done weekly, and is quite fast, washing and drying can only take up 30 minutes or so. Find a buddy to help you and cut all that time in half.

Definitly a car cover is the Best way to go to guarantee that your car is protected. If you don't go that route you should use a good synthetic protectant on the paint....I would also suggest that you use a vinyl protectant that affords UV protection (Such as a Lexol product or 303)....

Covercraft car covers are supposed to be very reputable. After researching car covers and reading reviews, I chose a custom Covercraft Noah. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Covercraft has several fabric options (see http://www.covercraft.com/cover_fabrics.htm) and their covers are sold by many online retailers (see http://www.covercraft.com/buy_online.htm). The lowest price I found was at www.autoanything.com.

California duster and detail spray between washings
