Default Always Dawn wash car before claying?

Should I always wash my car with DAWN before claying it? Will it still work good without washing with dawn?

Even though some people (especially Zaino users) like using Dawn, I think that it is too harsh to use on your car.

Here is a link some FAQ's on Dawn's website that recommends against using it for your car

Any good car wash soap should be fine for regular use. There is no need to change your wash procedures just for claying.

Dawn is only recommended by Zaino to strip old waxes, which it actually does a relatively poor job of. Clay will strip old wax anyway, so the answer is no, you don't need to wash with dawn before claying. Wash with a regular automotive soap then clay.
