Hey guys,
I just brought my car in for the Xylon detail and it looks amazing. Never seen paint so good. However, they also did a full detail and the inside of my car smells so good, like the inside of a hotel or something. Does anyone know what they use on the inside of the car? or what this mystery smell might be?

Ouch. What did they end up charging you for that?
Most dealerships offer some sort of "paint protection package" and rarely (if ever) they are worth the money that the consumer pays for them. Often times they introduce swirls during application.

I talked the dealer down to $500. But that also covers four more full-on details. I definetly do not smell alcohol, I really can't describe it but is smells good.

For $500, you could buy a Porter Cable buffer, and have about $380 left over for some really top notch products and buffing pads. Of course, if you're not into DIY, then this is moot.
I'm betting the dealer knows that many people won't come back for all of the remaining details. Even so, if he just has his prep guys doing the work, it's a nice profit center for him.
I'm sort of surprised they used mink oil on the seats. Mink oil is made up of liquified pig fat and silicone (yummy!), and as that combination would suggest, it's sort of greasy. It's usually used on thick, heavy wear leather items like work boots. Did you notice any darkening of the leather after application?
