Default I need a good car sunshield

Anybody recommend a high-quality sunshield for front dash (back window, too)? Are they all the same?

I like the aluminized mylar with the large springs. They fold up small and tuck under the seat, flip open instantly and conform to the windshield perfectly. I don't think the rear window needs a shield as it is heavily tinted.

I live in Houston and it gets pretty hot here, my GS's thermometer read 104 the other day. I do think there is a huge difference in between different sun shades. The one I like the most actually has reflective material on the sun side, a layer of insulation, and a felt type material on the inside face with a felt binding around the edge. They are custom fit so there is little if any light leakage around the edges, and they fold up accordian style. They are not cheap, but they seem to last a long time and work very, very well. I order mine from Autosportcatalog.com where they are listed as Ultraviolet Heat Shields.

DaveGS4:
Yes, I have a 350, Black ext. with Sterling on the inside. I think the light interior pobably keeps heat down a little, but I'm concerned with color deterioration over time.

TexasLex, I looked at the shades you mentioned. Some reviews at sites where they are sold mention these shades being bulky, stiff, difficult to put in and take out, etc. What's your take on that aspect of them?

Try this: http://www.canvasworks.com/ahs1.html

I can personally vouch for it. Good price and product. They also offer a rear cover as well.

i use this from covercraft:

custom fit, and it won't sag like most mylar type. only thing is it won't fold down small but i'm more concerned about protecting my interior from the sun and heat, not how small it folds down

A couple pics of my favorite shade. The things I like about it is it folds to a very small circle with just a twist so storage is super easy. It opens up fast and conforms perfectly to the window whether I use this in my small MR2 or my large SUV. It is rigid enough to be held in place by the sun visors. It keeps the sun off of the interior which means longer life of the interior materials and a cooler car upon entry. I also have a folding quilted insulated pad but it does not keep the car any cooler than this one does, does not work in both cars and it is more difficult to use. In my experience, the insulation factor is less function and more marketing. I believe I paid about $15 for this a few years ago and it is very rugged as I have used it regularly for years.

Default Sunshield for RX300

Can someone recommend a sunshield for RX300's very tall windshield? I tried several "jumbo" size sunshield and they were all too short. Thanks.

It's also amazing that car makers have done little to solve the hot summer car problem. It shouldn't be too hard to have an integrated solar fan for ventilation. (Yes, I know such products exist, but I'd like an integrated solution.)

I have this one and it works great, it is made my CoverCraft and has "Lexus" printed in black in the middle of the shade. You need to call to make sure you request the thick padded one, otherwise you get the roll-up one which is not as good. Great shade!
