how to remove painted PIN STRIPES

A friend of mine just bought a Volvo c70 and theres painted pin stripes on it. He managed to remove half an inch with paint thinner, and it took him a while. Is there any real easy way to remove this stuff? does it have to be sanded down or something?

You'll have a really hard time remocing them with a P/C. You'll even have a hard time removing them with a rotary buffer (I did), IF the pinstripe is an enamel. This compounding method also removes more paint from the car that's surrounding the stripe.
Here's the way a pro does it:

That's your best bet. Some have successfully used lacquer thinner, but there's a slight risk with that. The xylene in it *may* check/ micro crack the clear over time. Doesn't always happen, but you need to consider it.
Many here have had good results with the L/T but the 1st option ( the link tool) is better.
