My Lexus dealer painted my Spoiler, Trunk and Hood. They said I must wait at least 3 weeks before waxing because they painted my car when it was very humid. It was painted in the Miami Florida area. Is this Normal or did they screw up the paint job?

I think waiting about three weeks before doing any type of waxing, polishing, etc. to a new paint job would be good whatever the circumstances of it being painted. Better to be safe than sorry.

ceoart - Don't know why they made the big deal out of the humidity. Most paints take a while to fully cure. Give the shop higher marks for at least telling you to wait on waxing, they probably know their product.

yah thats normal and whatever you do DO NOT GO THROUGH A CAR WASH!!!! if you want to wash it do it with a soft cloth and not a brush of any sort or else youll mess up the paint job

My car paint buddy (who's in the other room) said that you should wait at least a month before your wax...
Humidity does affect the cure time but if it was a competent paint shop, they'll put more hardener in the paint mix to compensate for the humidity...

When I had my car painted, they also told me to wait at least a month to wash, but it was better to wait 3 months. And no waxing or polishing for 6 months.
And definately no automatic car washes.
And definately no automatic car washes.

If the parts were baked you can wax in a week, because they get an 80% cure right after they bake it, and a week later it's at full cure. If you don't have it baked, then a solid month is preferable.
