PC 7424 or 7336SP

It's the same machine. The 7424 has a 5lb counterweight while the 7336 has a 6lbs. You wont be able to tell a difference. I've used both and they're exactly the same in performance and such. that 1lbs of different is virtually non-existant while in use. it's like driving your car and then reduce it by 10lb. Difference is there, you just can't tell

Actually, the counterweight is to compensate for either 5 inch or 6 inch diameter backing plates (not pounds). I have both weights and the difference between the 2 is probably less than 1 ounce. Matching the weight to the diameter of the backing plate reduces vibration of the machine, especially when you have the speed turned up to 5 or 6, but it works fine either way. It becomes a matter of preference as to if the additional vibration bothers you. I pretty much leave the 6" weight on all the time since all my plates are 6". Only takes a few minutes to switch weights though if you really wanted to do it.
Also, I dont remember which is which, but one of them comes with a velcro backing plate (the model designated as a sander) and the polisher model comes with a foam pad but no backing plate. I would get the sander model (I think it is the 7336) because otherwise you will have to buy the backing plate separately. If you get the polisher model, throw away the foam pad that it comes with immediately. Its completely useless...
