How often do you wax?
I tried to look up wax in the search, but it came back empty. I was wondering how often people wax their cars? and how often does it need to be waxed?

I suspect it varies by color. Black cars look like crap when they need a wax job, and shine like a mirror when they are done. With lighter colors like white and silver, they don't look nearly as bad when they need to be waxed, nor nearly as improved once done.

Usually I tell by if the quick detailer is getting harder to wipe off. But I do a quick wax before a show. I do the three steps once in a while..that takes waaaay too long (5 hours average includes breaks/swearing time/tearing/and constant "why am i doing this") and everytime I stare at the bottles, I stand there and cry.

A cleaner wax is stronger and could harm the paint.
Polishes are strong and could harm the paint.
I use a cleaner wax about 2 times a year to clean the paint surface of oxidation, acid and other harmful effects. I wax with carnauba anytime I feel like it....between 6-10 times a year.

You would fit right into my weekly poker game. We play 2/4 texas h old'em with about 10 people and half the time there's over $50 before the flop!I have black and it is impossible to keep it clean. I got it professionally waxed just after I got it and put on Maguires quick detailing wax about once a week right after a car wash. Then about 2-3 seconds later it's all dusty. I can't imagine actually doing a full carnauba for 5 hours. I think I'd pay somebody and go golfing during those 5 hours.

once a week. Wax doesn't harm the clear coat. It actually is a barrier between the outside world and the clearcoat. Wax as often as you can. Polish however is abrasive so I would only polish twice a year.
