Default Shinning Up Exhaust Tips

Anyone have a solution for shinning up the exhaust tips. Mine are starting to look a little cloudy.

Thanks

I use Blue Magic or Mothers chrome/steel compound myself on the tips and the mufflers and they brown often. Just make sure you clean it up real good or the residue will compound the problem-sorry, poor choice in words.

Default Flitz, Autosol, Silvo, Luster Lace

I have used Flitz and Autosol for my tips with equally good results, although my exhaust tips weren't terribly corroded. I've also tried Silvo. There is a point however where these kinds of chrome polishers don't do any more. But if you're lucky like I was and your tailpipe is not heavily tarnished, these products can keep the tip looking very near new. There's another product out there called Luster Lace which is supposed to be very good as well. I've used these products on my chrome wheels to keep them looking good too. Hope this helps.

Try 3M metal polish compound. Works like magic in restoring shine and smoothness.

how do you properly clean the exhaust tips before using chrome polisher?

what sort of cleaner do you recommend and using what tool?

I'd take them off first..easier to clean if you have a lot of oxidation/dirt stuck on them. I used a scotch-brite pad (the one u use to wash dishes) and some degreaser.

Taking them off is not necessary. Scotch-brite pad? That would scratch the hell out of the finish. You would want to shine them off as well as clean off the grime.

You must be lucky. I wouldn't advise it in future use.
