Lightbulb Tighten up the Hinnie...

I have searched and not found any good answer to seeing how to tighten up the bottom part of the seat....you know the part of the seat that your rear sits on.

I have heard some word that if you use some steam on the leather it will pull it back into place when it cools down.....Is this right? If so, has anyone tried it and how tight did it get.

Reason is, I am tired of seeing my drive seat with loose hide...basically wearing out the elasticity.

Anyone have some recommendations before I take it to the upholstery shop.

thanks,

I have no experience with that technique personally, but to me, It's counterintuitive that expanding it more (by heating it up) would allow for THAT much contraction after cooling it back down. I could be wrong, but it may make it worse.

Also, the leather itself may not be the issue, it's possible that the leather hasn't stretched, but rather the foam cushioning underneath has likely compressed over time from your weight upon it on a regular basis.

I would ask an upholsterer to plump up or add some padding to the seat bottom. I've known others to do it and it brought the tightness of the leather back to like new.

Good luck either way!

Actually I thought I saw it on Unique Motorsports one night that I passed it by. I will consult with the shop to see what they say.

It really isn't all that bad, it is just the fact that all of the other seats look brand spanking new and would like to have my driver seat a little Nip Tuck...to make it look just as good as the others.

Thanks for the input...I will let you all know what they say as soon as I am able to.

cheers,

Hahahaha no worries bro....and no, I really dont watch much TV at all. My wife was watching Nip Tuck and I can't stand Unique Autosports either.

Working 5 days a week and owning and operating my own Limousine service on the weekends take up most of my time. I have the DVR and when i am home my wife likes to me me suffer and makes me sit with her and watch those stupid shows....

None the less, I though I'd make my post sound a little funny.

Cheers,

Did anyone ever find out the best way to tighten the leather on the seats short of taking it to get padded up? I had my golf clubs sitting in the backseat over night and left a indention in the leather....
