Hmm, that's a tough one. Are you sure it's permanent marker? Looks almost like the pens they use on windows of cars that are supposed to come off with water. If it *is* magic marker the only thing I could think off would be to re-dye the leather/vinyl.

the guy just said it's permanent marker so i took his word for it. i'm assuming he sold it because he couldn't get it off so maybe i shouldn't buy it. would it be hard to redye it? it's only 15 dollars so maybe i should buy it and try.

A re-dye wouldn't be too hard, you would just need to find the appropriate dye (leather or vinyl, whatever the material is). You *might* lightly sand the area a bit first (super lightly, don't want to remove the material) with like 2500-3000 grit paper. It's worth a shot for $15.

Someone else may have a better idea too.

try perp-sol/super solve. very mild solvent made by Crest products. usually works for this kinda stuff and doesnt tarnish your material (unless you just give it hell) maybe try using some kinda thinner, but then again you risk taking the finish off completely( ive done this bone-head move myself)
AlWAYS SPOT TEST FIRST!
