Some polishing work. 16" GS wheel.
Sorry mods if in wrong section, wasn't sure...
Polished a wheel for a friend, because he had damaged one and found a used one but it wasn't chrome, so I said this would be cheap alternative.
Steps:
Strip paint
sand with grits in order: 80, 120, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000
buffed with black compound, brown compound, white compound
polished with some meguier's polish
It was my first time so I wasn't sure if all these steps are required/ the best way to do it. tips for next time from anyone would be great.
Original wheel
After some sanding
more sanding...
first compound
final compound
Final product

If done completely by hand it would take really long to get all the pores out, I had all the right power tools and took i'd guess around 5 hours.
I believe it matches the chrome well, since I'm picky the only thing is if your up close (like cleaning the wheel) you'll notice hairline stratches.
So if anyone has any tips to perfect it, be appreciated.
