Don't they wash the car when you buy it off the lot anyway. Mine was "detailed" while I waited. So the damage should already have been done. Or is it a different kind of wash ?

Also cars sits on the lot for a while will be dusty needs to be washed, I think might be handled by a third party not sure if it's the same kid that was the serviced cars.

Now, you are making me think twice about the free wash. Been ther 4 times the last few months and I have declined 50%, just because the car was cleam and immaculate. They do a sloppy job of a wash anyway, at least my dealer.

Not a chance, made that mistake before... Never again. No mass washing place can take care of my car the way it should be taken care of.

Thumbs down Never Again

I detailed my GS a couple of weeks ago......swirl free and looked great! Took it to the dealer for service this week. I washed my car yesterday and noticed quite a few swirls... No more.

I not only always decline but if the service visit is short I watch the car so they can't send it to the wash guys. Years ago the Lexus dealers used to do a great hand wash but today they do a terrible job.

If swirl marks in the paint bother you, I wouldn't let them touch it. I picked up my new ls 460 in August and the dealer "detailed" it before delivery. Looked great when I picked it up, but after I washed it for the first time, the fillers they used were gone and I noticed numerous swirl marks in my new paint!! Mind you, they are nowhere near as bad as the G35 pics earlier in this thread. However, I must now polish my car to get rid of the swirl marks. I will never let the dealership wash my car. Period.

I am very pleased with the job Newport Lexus does on my car. All the service guys line up to drive and take care of my baby while its back there.

No problem here, I welcome the free washes. I own my LS clear, but it is just a car after all. If I don't mind parking it on the street near skid row, then car wash paranoia is not on the radar screen for me. Once there are enough swirls on it, I'll trade it in. There are more salient facets to life than worrying about a car.

BTW, they quoted me $100 for an oil change which I declined. Is everybody paying the same?
