dealer wash is a courtesy service, most of the time they are pressed for time and can't do a full on job like many car spas

NEVER TAKE THE WASH!

I have a personal horror story. Lexus of Riverside took our brand new GS (back in 01) and decided it would be a smart idea to put the towels on the asphalt to pick up some rocks. They then decided to dry the entire car with said towels. All said and done, we had a RX loaner for 1 month and they got one hell of a whipping from a whole lotta people. I also tell everyone to stay away from them because their service is horrid.

No WAY would they touch my car. I saw the local knukleheads behinds the dealership with their brushes in hand... and all these folks lined up. Yikes. They never wet down the car before hitting it with a brush, and the same brush they just did the car in fronts wheels with... can you imagine all that grit, rubbing back and forth on your clear coat, and if you own a black car... I have not gotten a car yet...want an LS 460 Mercury/Black, but nothing right now with options I want around... so I told the salesman, my car is to have ALL the wrappers still on it, inside and out when I buy.

I've only tried it once, and I'm not gonna lie they did a decent job but it still wasn't as good as I would have liked ... I'll stick to doing it myself

Bredemann Lexus up in the north Chicago suburbs has a special automated carwash from Japan that is specifically design for Lexus paint jobs. They said it was over $1,000,000 and they needed it because on saturdays, they not only have to wash cars in for service, but all of the people who come in for the complimentary washes.

Lexus of West Kendall also has a "special" machine wash in the back, it looks like the ones at gas stations. It gives a decent wash but I prefer washing it by hand and having it look PERFECT

Never let the dealer do it, just look at their used cars a see how bad they look..........and then ask yourself why would I let them do that to mine.

^^^^ Yeah, NEVER let the dealer wash your car. Just look at the NEW cars on their lot that they have washed a few times....you will see swirl marks galore!

My car was so dirty this past weekend and the dealership is so close to my house (and i was so lazy) I actually decided to let them wash the car since I was coming in to have nitrogen put in the tires ... And they did a pretty good job, no swirl marks !! very few water spots here and there but besides that they did a good wash, I must say I'm impressed ...

I know people that abuse the free car wash and sandwiches so bad that the dealership had to actually change their weekend car wash policy! And they wouldn't even tip the washing staff. Cheapskates.
