Paint Protection anygood?
Does anyone have this on their car? Does it really offer protection or is it just money to the dealers?
Would love to see close up pics.

I do not remember that I got the AutoGuard but I got something in the mail saying it was time to reapply it. When I get it done...I hope this weekend I will post pics so you can see what it looks like. I hope that will help.

It sounds like a paint sealant.
Its a waste of money.
Basicaly, the dealers charge you somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 to apply a "paint protectant." There are two ways to protect your paint - wax and synthetic sealants, both of which can be easily purchased anywhere.
For $500, here is what you get: The dealer uses a $14 a bottle sealant to apply 1 or 2 coats of sealant to your car. They use about 1 ounce total from probably an 8 ounce bottle. That is roughly $2 worth of product.
It may take about an hour or so to apply it - that's ... what...maybe $20 in labor charges?
So, for roughly $20, the dealer charges you $500. Do you think that is an acceptable profit margin?
Now, you may think that perhaps they use a product that either you cannot get or is so unbelievably awsome that nothing compares to it. That would be wrong, too. There are many quality sealants out there - just pick one. The one I happen to use is Zaino which is hands down the best of the best.
So, to recap, everyone that owns a car should be using some sort of paint protection - whether it be wax or a synthetic sealant. If you don't feel comfortable applying products yourself, just get a local detailer to do it for you. It will cost far less and you'll probably wind up with a higher quality product in the end.

I agree with the above posts, it's not worth the price. For less money, you can buy a Porter Cable polisher and add the sealant and waxes yourself. Griot's Garage also offers a nice polisher and sealant/wax combination.
