Cool Diamond Fusion?

Has anyone ever had the Diamond Fusion done to their windsheild? I like that fact that it give the rain-x effect for 4 years (or so they say) and they will cover cracked windsheilds for 4 years and replace or repair for free! Any advise?

Are you seriously considering paying for something called "Diamond Fusion"? Do yourself a favor and just buy some rain-x if you're into that type of product.

Repeat after me: ALL dealer fabric protection, paint protection, and other hokey products are a rip off.

I'm particularly enjoying their claims of increased reaction time. Maybe if you don't replace your windshield wipers (ever!!!) - otherwise they're full of it. They also fail to let you know that this is simply a product that is wiped on like any other hydrophobic window treatment, and will eventually cause smearing. The best claim is one of protection, as if this liquid will stop a rock from cracking your windshield. Luxury car dealers should not be peddling this crap.

Actually its supposed to be some kind of process where your windshield is exposed to some gas for a period of time and the chemicals bond with the glass. It has a similar effect as Rain-X, BUT it also supposedly repels solid objects hitting it -- greatly reducing the possibilty of cracks, rock chips, etc. Supposedly eliminates the little pitting effect that people on this board have complained about. Rain-X doesn't do that ;-)

Read about it, thinking about it, but haven't done it...

Its a great product. We used to apply this to customers cars when I worked for Volvo back in the day. Its a long process that must be applied by a trained employee. It deals with a few dangerous chemicals/gases that form a strong chemical bond to the windshield. Final result is a nice slippery barrier where water will just fly off the windshield(and slightly more resistant to chipping of the glass). Works way better than RainX and it last for about 5 years. I believe you just have to apply a booster every month or once a year. I forget how long.

At the time, we sold it for $500. But now there are more and more local shops who are becoming licensed to apply this product and offer it for a much cheaper price. Best bet, try to find a local shop who does this for a cheaper price than what the dealership is gonna charge you for.

Hmm... interesting product. I thought it was some kind of tinting material. No go for me if it is still at 5 bills now since I wash cars every two weeks.

How is it any better if you have to apply a "booster"? That's just BS language for "reapplication". Buy Rain-X if you want to and skip this stuff.
