Have you tried to use a bottle of Invisible Glass? Clean it off with some newspaper afterwards.

Not quite. You can use this stuff on the exterior of your car. Here is a link: http://www.corrosionx.com/rejex.html

No prob, good stuff, but kind of pricey. I picked up a bottle at a local True Value store.

I tried invisible glass with newspaper awhile ago, it does nothing to remove hard water stains on glass. I may try the vinegar route or the clay bar next. Has anyone had results with the magic eraser yet?

I tried the magic eraser on some very bad waterspots on the windshield of my 88 Mark VII. It did nothing to the spots at all. I finally found a combination that worked very well at removing the spots. I took the 0000 steel wool and used Megs NXT as a lubricant. It took a little effort on my part. Your spot problem should not be as bad as mine. I was removing 20 years of waterspots. I was very pleased with the results. The glass looks new again.
