Default Help! PC7424 or Hands

Hi,

I did a lot of research for polishing and waxing from autopia.com, properautocare.com etc. Most people used PC 7424 for polishing. However, some article suggested applying wax by hands. I got confused. I don't want to buy a buffer for only polishing.

Here is my questions:
-) Can I use PC7424 for applying wax?
-) What is the different between using PC7424 and hands for polishing and waxing?
-) Can I use microfiber pad for polishing if using hands?

Thanks

The advantage of a PC is most significant when using a polish. If a car is prepped well the wax goes on and off so easily there isn't as much of an advantage from a work and time saving aspect as waxing by hand. That said the PC applies a much more even and uniformly thin coat of wax than you can by hand.

Where the PC really shines is in the prep. A car that is poorly prepped will never have a great shine. I believe 90% of the shine is due to the polishing step and 10% is due the the wax.

Polishing by hand is an ugly painful task. The PC makes the process 10 times faster as well it makes the finished paint surface so much better than you can ever achieve by hand. But sure you can use a microfiber covered pad for applying wax by hand.

Question

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread...

if putting wax on by hand, what is the best method and what should I use (microfiber cloth, those foam pads? etc)?

thanks in advance...

if using carnauba wax, the best way is to use your bare hands to apply it

the wax will soften up with ur body temperature and allows you to apply a thinner coat easily
otherwise foam pads are fine if you dont want to get your hands waxy

I prefer the microfiber covered foam pads for hand application. They seem to apply a thin even coat better than the foam applicator pads.

I'm not sure putting wax on with your bare hands is a good idea.. Your hands have oils and other artifacts that can get into the wax and then end up scratching the car.. I guess this would be the same for the pads.. i just never heard of using your hands..

I use MF pads and cloths and they work fine.. Pinnacle make a great Carnuba wax that goes on and comes off easy..

Foam applicators work really well too.

This is one of the best Carnauba paste wax: http://www.autogeek.net/pinsouvwax.html

Finally I got my PC7424 and white & red pads from Lake Country. Also got the Blackfire enhance polishing. Is anyone use this brand before? I still looking for the long lasting wax. Any suggestion??
