I'm looking into buy a Porter Cable 7424. I was wondering which pads are actually necessary for polishing & waxing, I see a bunch of bundle packages that have so many different pads. I'm not a complete detailing freak. I'd just like to polish & wax my car. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd get this: http://www.autogeek.net/ed20pocacoki.html
Edge 2k Pads are some of the best, it's double sided as well. It comes with pads harsh enough for polishing and some soft enough for applying waxes. The harsher ones, ie Orange and yellow would be for more abrasive polishes. The lighter ones, ie Blue and White, and even Red, can be used for glazes or waxes.
I'd look around AutoGeek's forums for more information on detailing, you'd learn a lot.

I'm a big time Meguiar's user so I've used this chart a lot.

Since I use 83,80 and 26 I really only purchase 8006 and 9006 pads. I haven't tried any others because I get the results I want with these products. Good luck with your PC, it is a great tool.
