Default How to clean the brake dust from the openings of Gen II LS 400 wheels?

This may seem too basic a question for this board, but how does one get the disk brake dust out of the small openings on LS 400 wheels; they are hard to clean well. The entire back sides of the wheels are covered with dust as well. Is there a magic solution that I could apply in a tub or with a paintbrush (with the wheel off the car) to do this?

I have tried a toothbrush with aluminum wheel cleaner, Basic Green with a toothbrush, etc., to get the areas in the arcs on the perimeters of the wheels but they still do not look good.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Pressure washer works well. After washing I apply NXT Tech wax to the wheels which makes the brake dust release much easier.

Doc,
Detailing wheels can be a PITB. However, there is one solution to your problem once you have the wheels clean.

Griot's also offers a set of polishing pads that may help with the clean up.

As Jim mentioned, once they are clean, I would strongly suggest coating them with NXT or a simluar product. This will definately aid in your next cleanup.

You can clay bar the wheels to remove any brake dust you can't remove from regular degreasing/washing.

Not a good idea to use the same clay bar on any paint surface after you've done this. That's like dropping the clay bar on the ground and reusing it.
