OK to use brush ?

Is it safe to wash with brush - the type from WalMart, with plastic hair but fine feathered ends ?
like this :

I'm a lazy bastard and wash my car only occasionaly so it get dirty and it seems using the brush first, rinse off, then use mitt is the most effective way of cleaning. comments ?

Oof, kidney punch, I'm in pain.

Don't do it. Those things do nothing but introduce swirl marks. If you'd like an easy first step, go for a foam gun instead. They're great at lifting dirt. Use a quality shampoo, a good sheepskin or microfiber mitt, and you'll be amazed at how easy it is to wash your car.

I have used a similar brush for years to get rid of the bugs. No swirl marks. Brush is actually better than microfibre or cotton towel at washing, since it does not push particles against the paint surface.

The trick is to use it ONLY when the car surface is cold. Use ONLY cold water to wash your car.

that's exactly my point, I probably will not use it if I wash like once a week....but in my lazy-*** case I wash like once every 8 weeks
so it scares me to go at it first with a mitt/sponge

My pro detailer tried a high end wash brush (seems to me it was boars hair or something supposedly super soft) on my GS and it left micro-fine scratches in the paint. Probably would be OK on lighter colors but I asked never to use it on my black onyx cars again.

The only brush I have for body paint is my Meguiars wide-body brush. The Brush is unbelievebly soft. Perhaps even softer than many of my microfiber towels!! yet I still resort to my washing mitt

A good mitt and shampoo will keep the dirt where it belongs - off the finish. By all means, if it works for you that's great. Just not something I'd ever do.

i'd use one of those microfiber mits works really good even for black cars. The brush is good too, I have one of those just as long as it never never touches the ground or anything but the car it's ok. Just don't put too much pressure on it or you will wind up with scratches. Wax every other wash and scratches will be reduced to a minimum

A genuine Boar's Hair Brush is OK to use but again, ypu have to make sure that no grit etc is lodged in the bristles as they may scratch your paint

MF dosn't rub dirt agenst the pait, it allows the dirt to fall inbetween the fibers in the cloth, large pieces of dirt that scratch are usually washed off with the initial spray down. And not to be rude but if you only wash your car once every 8 weeks...and clame to be lazy.....why are you so worried about your paint.....it takes work ya know
