I have very very slight hairline scratches in my headlights, besides that they are clear and w/out condensation. I've never wetstanded ever, so am somewhat hesitant to start. For headlights like mine, would rubbing compound+Plastix+plastic polish+wax be sufficient? Anyone try that method with good results w/out wetsanding?
If its just a tiny tiny scratch, then I wouldn't even bother wetsanding, especially if you've never done it before. You're going to need more than just handpower to polish out the sanding marks.

Now sure if I would want to use wax though. I'm not a fan of wax on headlights. I prefer just to finish it off with plastix

I have had good results with PlastX with a medium cut pad on a PC. Plexus is a good last step product after the polish is done.

2000 grit paper is impossible to find. I tried Ace Hardware, Menards, Home Depot, and True Value. WTF. Where are you guys finding this?

Local auto part store (autozone, kragen, Parts America, Walmart etc)

They usually sell the 3M brand

Ive never tried the wetsand method. Wetsand first, then plastx? Because it seems like i cant get it to shine enough like my passenger side.

make sure to keep the area soaked when you wetsand. Should look better than new when finished

How much better is the 2000 grit compared to the 1500 grit?

I think you want to first use 1500 and then use the 2000 grit. Once you are done with the wet sanding, use the plastx

Easy to find at automotive paint/finishing shops - the places where you can purchase PPG and Dupont paints, finishing supplies/materials, compressors, paint guns, etc.

These are not usually chain stores.

It's recommended to have a buffer to speed things up. A buffer will make the process 10x faster when you're polishing the wetsand marks away. Wetsanding should make your lens feel/look new, if you do it right.

I've seen headlights that were considered "dead", but with wetsanding, you would think they were new!

My local auto parts store didnt have plastx but i got some other brand that I used. I also got the 1500 and 2000 sandpaper. Any advice on how long to sand for and any special directions on how to get better results?

Plastx worked pretty good on my girl's car as you can see on the before pic. her lights were in bad conditions. But some hazyness still there only did the outside with PC using a green sonus pad. New at this so not experienced with wet sanding, how difficult is it to wet sand? And sorry for the stupid questions but is it just sanding with sandpaper wet?
