I used to use the absorber as well. It seemed to lose its effectiveness after awhile (plus I felt like it could create small hairline scratches much easier). Forget about washing them, and if for some reason they get heavily stained, you might as well throw it out. Decided to switch over to a huge Microfiber towel since I have used them for spray waxes and the like and havent looked back. They are very absorbent (they seem to absorb faster, allowing fewer passes over a given area) and just as easy to use IMO.

I have used the same one now for over NINE YEARS!
Went into the washing machine at least 50 times. No rips, tears, or issues whatsoever. Not one. In fact I bought two at the same time and the other is still new in the package.
Best $8.00 I spent. Around $10.00 nowadays. Roll it up damp after each use and store in the supplied container for best results.

^^ Thats whats up. I must say that I used the absorber(about 2 years) when I was a rookie to the detailing game which is probably why I havent had much success with it like you have (more than likely my technique at the time, plus I never washed it). But the microfiber has been treating me real good since then(about a year), so I cant see myself going back.

Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer spray + filtered water + waffle weave =

The meguiars UQD makes the water sheets off so much better. I'd say my car is 95% dry when I use the sheeting method. Whatever water is left, I take my waffle weave towel and wipe it dry. One little towel will dry my whole car

I can say that the Absorber definitely does NOT remove wax while drying. I have had the same coat of wax on for over 10 washes, and the wax is definitely still there because my paint surface is super smooth, and the water still beads more than any other car in the parking lot on rainy days.

Where did you get that Meguiar's MF Shammy? I want to look into that!

I politely differ. A good waffle weave microfiber is far more gentle and effective on the finish.

Regardless, I have no issues with wax removal or scratches on any of my finishes due to this product. Plus this thing will last for a very long time-see my post above and it still looks almost new as dirt just comes right off of it during rinsing.

That's good but have you used a bright flashlight like a Brinkmann and looked at the finish? There may be some micro-marring. I noticed this with even the finest cotton terry towels.

Curious, have you used this product to even challenge that it will scratch the surface?
I am about to place the 12th coat of wax on the car this evening. If time allows the 4th on the SUV. I also paint my own panels as most painters out there do a subpar job. Does that tell you how picky I am?

SC430 show tomorrow. Have to get it ready. Honestly, not sure if I notice much after the 6-7th coat.

You have 12 applications of wax, but probably not 12 layers.

A paint surface can only hold so much before you get to the point of diminishing returns.

This is why I limit myself to only 4 layers of wax before I start over
