Bah! Detail guys used ArmorAll on my dash!
Hey guys,
I forgot to tell the nubs at the car wash not use ArmorAll on my dash and now it's super shiny. What is the best/safest way yo remove it. And what would you all recommend for cleaning the dash but retaining the matte look?
Thanks in advance.

You can use almost anything to clean your dash, as long as it's safe for the surface. However, 303 aerospace protectant is great! It'll give you a "factory fresh" matte appearance and protect your dash (and other plastic/rubber surfaces) great UV protection... It also seems to repel dust.

You could probably just use a heavily diluted all-purpose cleaner from an OTC seller, then just hit your dash with 303 occasionally.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help guys!
And to br3aknout: I think it is for two reasons, 1) Shiny dashes suck and 2) I think ArmorAll used to be somewhat destructive on dashes, not sure if it has been reformulated or what.

Its not that its bad as a protectant, its just that its horrible looking as it leaves the dash so cheesy looking shiny. A professional auto detailer should make your car look like new, not shine. When you buy your car brand new the dash does not look like someone just dumped hair gel all over it, it looks flat, clean and soft.

I used 303 Aerospace Protectant for the first time a few days ago and it left a shiny, greasy film all over my dash. Nasty. Everyone seems to rave about it, but it left me completely underwhelmed.
My choice...Sonus Cockpit detalier.

I don't use anything that may leave a shine on the dash simply because it reflects off of the windshield and then makes it a ***** to see out when you are driving into the sun.

Back in the 70s and 80's Armor All contained dimethyl silicone oils, and they are the type that is detrimental to vinyls & plastics. They were forced (lawsuits and bad press) to change their formulation, and now they're water-based polydimethyl siloxanes. Have been for many years now actually. They do no harm.
But old gossip dies hard, and many avoid it because they don't know they revised the formula to the more desireable PDMS water based silicone.
The look? Well, that's subjective, and many other current protectants also give that "too shiny" look.
Simply use 303 or the Meguiar's product that satisfies your visual needs.
