You need a repaint. Probably the whole bumper but maybe some one can feather in a repair. I don't like feathered jobs as they tend to show a couple years down the road.

Yeah you definitely need a repaint. Usually when you can feel the scratch with your fingernail it's too deep to polish out.

If you can't repaint the whole bumper (which is ideal), you can get it touched up.

You can start with a clay bar, which will help distinguish how much of that is transfer vs how much is actual damage. From there you can try an aggressive polish to minimize the damage, stepping down to a mild polish to remove hazing. So, yes, a professional detailer can smooth things out, but I do agree that a repaint is in order. Some of the mobile bumper & panel repair specialists do amazing work. A friend of my wife has a black Infiniti and I was blown away at how good his rear-bumper repaint looked. Good luck...

That sucks man, I got something similar on my back bumper. Im getting the whole thing repainted this weekend. Can't wait to have an unblemished '99 GS4 again. Kinda want to inflict some major bodily harm to the b1tch that f-ed up my bumper in the first place...she hit me from behind while I was stopped in the transition from reverse to drive out of a slanted parking spot and the a-hole pig of a cop found me at fault - even though I wasn't even moving!! Makes me subscribe to the saying in that one NWA song....
