It depends of course, but in general I disagree. Six months is plenty of time for surface contaminants and swirl marks & light scratches to collect on the finish. These are amplified on a dark vehicle. They're also amplified by the fact that most dealership details are of horrible quality.
In pictures - particularly lo-res digital shots viewed on a forum site - it can be difficult to see a difference. However, I clayed, polished, and sealed both new vehicles in our household and was very surprised at the results. Particularly the claying process - there was a lot of crap on the finish.

New cars benefit from a clay bar as most are shipped by rail and have rail dust on the paint. I clay and clean every new car I buy. Might as well start out right with the products I know and trust.

He didn't. He used a separate paint cleaner then NXT Tech Wax and then #26. No cleaner/wax there.
