Default removing/cleaning exhaust fumes on bumper?

My car is just a few months old and I try to wash it as much as possible. Lately, its getting harder and harder to remove the dirt or stains right above the exhaust pipes on the bumper. What product can be use to easily and safely remove them without damaging the paint?

Bug & tar remover and/or a clay bar would be the first things that come to mind. Extra coats of sealant/wax in these areas will make future cleanup much easier. Good luck...

Use a Mr. Clean Magic Sponge. It is by far the best way to get anything off of anything else... including exhaust residue off of a bumper.

^ That's a great tool, but personally not one I use on paint. I've polished a few scratches from others that have used it. I can't speak to whether that's user error or just the strength of the abrasive against automotive clearcoat. Nonetheless, I'd recommend being careful if you go that route.

I agree 100%, I'm a big proponent of the Magic Eraser for certain interior materials, but NOT for paint. It's abrasive, and will dull the paint. You can polish it back out of course, but why remove paint if you don't have to. Use a paint safe solvent such as DuPont Prepsol, or 3M Adhesive and Wax Remover or Bug & Tar remover as mentioned.

Let us know how it goes.

Cool, I will try the bug and tar remover since i already have some. I was afraid to use it thinking that excessive rubbing might remove some top layer of clearcoat
