You can introduce fine scratch marks with an orbital buffer..

It's called using a heavy cutting pad with a very abrasive compound

OK maybe that was a bit extreme

you can do that with anything if your not carefull, but that was a pretty knarley example.

It's possible but that's generally rare with proper technique.
