Default Automated drive through car wash....

I've been going to those quite a few times recently because it's fast and cheaper than a regular car wash place. It doesn't do as good of a job (which is why I need to park it somewhere and wipe it down some more).

Do you think the high pressure water jets are strong enough to damage the seals surrounding the moonroof or around the doors and windows? So far, seems ok. But in the long run, I hope not to get any leaks.

I haven't noticed an issue with my moonroof, doors or windows and I do this at a place a few blocks from the track.

I have to admit I wondered the same thing a couple of times while sitting in the car as the water gets sprayed. I favor those car washes though.

I would love to do it by hand. The thing is, I live in an apartment complex and it's tough to wash there. When I was living with my parents, I always hand wash my car.

But those water coming from the automatic wash really come down hard. I guess it's good to get all those grime off. The brush that cleans the rims does a pretty good job. I had it done once and left no scratches on the body or on the rim. I usually do the Express wash for like $7.00, then I'll park it there at the gas station--get my microfiber rag out and start wiping it down really good (drying it at the same time). Then I use a separate rag to wipe down the rims.

Yea it kinda is come to think of it. If you really wanna save get a pressure washer with a foam lance attachment. For soap us Chemical Guys' high gloss citrus wash since it really gives a great deal of foam. One of the guys on autopia had a pressure washer and was using this stuff as a prewash, but i have to say it really got the job done. And the added fun of watching pedestrians cringe once you "miss" is absolutely priceless.
