Default Detail focusing on, well, the details

My wife is at the MLB Fan Fest today so I had five hours of "me" time in the driveway. Woo hoo! Since both cars are still quite new, and since I've already put some time into the paint, I was able to focus on some of the finer details today. I got an early start which was good since the morning overcast didn't last long today.

Products & process - same for both the ES and RX:
- Presoak wheels & wells with Poorboy's Bio APC.
- Wash a/w mats w/ Duragloss shampoo; vacuum carpets.
- Wash wheels, wells, lower trim & exhaust tips w/ Duragloss shampoo & dedicated mitt.
- Wash car with Duragloss shampoo & dedicated mitts.
- Spot clay & polish a few areas with nasty bugs & grime, one grimy wheel, and a spot on the ES' hood where bird poop etched into the finish. (Menzerna IP w/ orange pad; Beautyshine clay bar)
- Four Star UPP on the finish & wheels.
- Clearkote metal polish on exhaust tips, followed by Four Star UPP.
- Poorboy's Bold & Bright on the tires.
- Adam's undercarriage spray in wheel wells.
- Adam's glass cleaner w/ MF waffle weave towel on all windows.
- Four Star UPP on interior wood veneer.
- Poorboy's Natural Look on dash & upper door panels.

Nice work. Klasse AIO and Zaino AIO also work well on the wood veneers in the Lexus cars.

I use Z-16 on the wheel wells. I might add that clean door jambs really complete the look. I use Z-2 Pro for that. Lexus door jambs are very well painted in my experience; much more than other cars I work on.

On a more serious note, I think that your choice of products and methods are equally good

Thanks fellas!

Klasse (and Menzerna!) & Zaino are great products as well. Four Star has been my go-to fo a few years now, but Menzerna is quickly catching up. I find their FMJ sealant to be just as durable as UPP, although it offers a little less pop. I definitely use it when detailing a German car, almost always topped with wax.

Anyway, my two favorite vendors are www.exceldetail.com and www.detailersdomain.com. Between them they carry all of the product lines I prefer to use, with the exception of LC pads. I generally buy those from autogeek.net or properautocare.com. But, over time I've built up relationships with Patrick @ Excel (he's a sponsor on an Acura forum and is a very talented detailer as well as an awesome vendor) and Phil @ Detailer's Domain (he focuses on ze Germans, but offers excellent service).

Let me know what time you'll be over. My wife will make lemonade and cookies for when you take a break!
