Default Help Choose Best Wax for Black Car

Hi all.

I need help deciding on what to use as the best wax for a black car. I have a lot of waxes already, as well as 7424PC. I also have DetailCity pads for the PC, as well as a bunch of other stuff. I need your guys opinions for the best wax that you have used for a black car. Brand names and part numbers would be great, as well as the order in which you use it. Thanks all in advance.

Usually the wax comes after all the polishing.

You apply and remove like any other wax. Apply by machine (w/finishing pad) or with a wax applicator. Let the wax dry and buff off with a microfiber buffing towel.

Ok I think I may have missed a step or something. This is the process I take when washing and waxing my car.

1. Cool off pain with running hose, no sprayer
2. Wash Rims
3. Wash Car
4. Dry everything
5. Clay bar car
6. Wash car again
7. Dry car.
8. Wax

Should I be doing something in between the Wax, and Dry car the second time.

You're missing polish. Polishing your car is what gives it the shine. Polishing is the prime ingredient. Wax is just the special spice you use. Even the best wax wont look good if the paint isn't polished.

Polishing the paint is everything because it removes all the weather beaten crap on top along with minor imperfections. I've seen cars get polished and sealed with no wax, and the cars paint looked great once it was done. Wax is like that final touch that makes the car look perfect. With that said for a black car I'd probably go with souveran if I thought my car was worth it.

There is no best wax for everyone. If you like the highly reflective wet look you would choose one product and if you like the deep dark glowing look you would choose another.

Here is a 2004 black Highlander I did.
• Washed with Meg's Gold Class wash
• Clayed with Meg's Smooth Surface Clay Kit
• Polished with Meg's #80 Speed Glaze
• Glazed with Meg's #7 Show Car Glaze
• Waxed with Meg's NXT Tech Wax Liquid (x2)

Yes I agree with the consensus, polish the car after step #5. If you do polish, then #6 & 7 are not necessary.

If you choose NOT to polish, instead of #6 &7, you could use a QD (quick detailer) to wipe the car down, then wax. It's ultimately up to you.

Whatever you choose, I would definitely clay bar the car if it hasn't been done already.

Very true. Another factor to consider...PRICE$$$ Waxes range in prices from $20 (Natty's) to $8000 (Zymol Royale)!!! So far, although I haven't tried it yet, Pinnacle Souveran ($70-$80) is the best bang for the buck.

Thanks guys. Yea I deffinatelly want to go for the wet look. My car came back from the body shop last week after I was rear-ended. It looks so crazy nice now, I absolutely have to make sure I maintain it to the fullest.

As far as polish, do you guys use the PC for it, or do you do it by hand.

P.S. That highlander looks crazy. My car looks like this now, but I need to make sure it keeps staying like that.
