Default Can you over wax?

I have a black LS460...inbetween washing I take the California Duster and clean it off. Then apply a spay on wax. Is waxing your car too much bad for the paint?...is there a build up that will dull the shine.

Also, what's the difference between a spay on quicky wax and an instant detailer? I see Maguires sells both. Thanks for your help.

Instant detailers are suppose to be a quick way to wipe off dust without having a car wash. Quick wax are just that. Wax in a bottle that you can wipe on easily and remove easily.

Although it probably wont harm your paint, waxing too much is a waste. You get to the point of diminishing return because your paint can only hold so much product before it gets wiped off after you apply.

won't hurt, but useless. Too much wax can always be taken off by a good clay bar

I wouldnt use a spray wax in place of a paste or liquid wax though. Use the spray wax as a touch up only. Personally I only use quick detailers after I wash the car to give it a fresh shine. I wax pretty often, maybe too much, but I enjoy it and the car looks great. I dont use the spray waxes as I didnt find the results to be worth it.

A spray wax/sealant can indeed replace a traditional paste wax. I've gotten great results and increased durability with a spray wax such as Jeff Werkstatt's AJT. It certainly lasted longer than any carnauba I've used in the past.

x2 on AJT. I'm polycharging mine tomorrow. I just finished taking out the swirls today. Tomorrow will be sealant and glaze and then wax

x3 on the AJT. However, I disagree on the durability of spray on wax. I can't speak from personal experience about most (although I have heard from many trusted sources that most only last a few days) I do know from personal experience that Optimum Car Wax has given me 3-4 weeks durability on a daily driver.

The Werkstatt AJT is good for at least 3 months for me.

Of course everyone's mileage will vary depending upon prep, enviromental factors, wash routine, etc.
